Next the logistics - how was I going to do this during a pandemic. Well where there is a will, there is a way. First I was going to ride there if the border ever opened but for vehicles crossing the borders it is still not opened. Then I looked into flying and renting and this seemed to be my only option, however there were many rules in place upon my return, I would have had to isolate in a hotel for three days and then self-isolate at home for the remainder of the 14 days. Thankfully the vaccines have been ramped up and I was able to get both shots and then the government announced that if you were double vaccinated you were exempt from the hotel stay and the whole 14 day isolation.
2021 has certainly been interesting to date. Started off in lockdown due to provincial and federal restrictions and now fully vaccinated and able to travel even though I had a number of hoops to jump!
Now to figure out what I needed to travel - what paperwork was needed! Lots of research and then trying to find a place to complete a COVID-19 test for travel purposes was interesting. I had to go to Ottawa to complete that test and wait on pins and needles in hopes it would be negative and that I would receive it on time! Needless to say I booked off most of the week to get all the little things done before I fly out on Canada Day.
So it is the morning of Canada Day and I am almost packed and ready to go. Bike is rented and waiting for me and direct flight from Montreal to San Francisco! My dad is joining Paul to make sure I get to the airport on time and most importantly that Paul doesn’t get lost on the way home so I am sure dad will do the driving - lol.
Did I say I was excited yet - woohoo!
